I just want to say a very big thank you for all the parents coming out to the Christmas Concert yesterday! The students did a great job and loved having their family and friends in attendance!

Math
We started two digit subtraction today! I explained to students that the first thing they should do is look in the ones places and subtract the two numbers. If the top number is smaller than the bottom number they need to borrow a number from the tens place. They would cross out the top number in the tens place and subtract one from it. So for example if the number was a three they would cross it out and make it a two. Once they do that in the tens place they go back to the ones place and add the number they borrowed from the tens place. The number borrowed will always be one, so students would put the number one first and the top number from the ones places second. For example, the top number in the ones place is 7 and since we borrowed one from the tens place the new number would be 17 to subtract. After the students had to subtract the ones and tens place and write the answer at the bottom of the problem.

Inquiry into Language
Students wrote in their journals using sentence starters again today. The topic they wrote about was "What did you like about our Christmas concert yesterday?".  Students had to start off their sentence starters like this:
First I liked......
Next I liked.....
Then I liked.....
After I liked.....
Finally I liked...

Unit of Inquiry
We continued working with our organization unit today! We focused on organizing dressers in class. As a class, we talked about what are some things we all have in our dressers at home. Next students got a worksheet that had a picture of a dresser and got to draw and colour what they wanted. The students knew to have everything organized in categories such as dresses, pajamas, socks, leggings, and even headbands. They were very creative with their work!
