Daily Five
I bought a new book from A Different Booklist Cultural Centre called Cleversticks! The book is about a boy named Ling Sung who does not like school because other kids seem to be good at doing a lot of things. Then one day he discovers something he can do too- a "cleverstick" trick that his whole class wnats to try. We talked about how we can sometimes feel sad when others are good at things when we are not. We discussed that it is important to keep trying and find things we are good at! We also talked about what if we had a new student from a new country, how would we help them at school. We said we could help them with writing in class, teach them games for recess, and even teach them how to tie their shoes!
French
Next we had French with Mlle Jessica! You can check out her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com/
Math
We learned about addition and subtraction today. Students know that the + sign means you have to add and the - sign means you have to subtract. We worked in our math workbooks on four number sentences. In the workbook each number sentence had different animals or objects and we wrote down the numbers we had to add or subtract. After they came up with one on their own at the bottom. When that was done I put up a number sentence on the board and had the students come up and solve it.
