Daily Five
We started off the day with reading buddies!!! Students read with their buddies from Mr. Conte's grade five class!!
Math
We reviewed number sentences today! I drew different objects on the board and the students counted how many were blue, how man were black and also counted how many we had in total. When writing our addition sentences I told them the biggest number always goes last (which is the total). So for the first one we had 6 blue hearts and 5 black hearts, the total was 11 hearts. We made addition and subtraction sentences with these number. I even had one student come up and draw shapes and made number sentences from them!
French

Gym

Inquiry into Language
We read chapters 4 and 5 of Dinosaurs Before Dark. We worked in our workbooks after answering questions about the chapters. I also put some dinosaurs up on our bookshelf! The students noticed right away and loved all the different dinosaurs! They also noticed the Pteranodon as well! That is the dinosaur in the book we are reading!
Unit of Inquiry
Today we start learning about the three different periods dinosaurs lived in. The first is called Triassic period. I showed the students different pictures of the land and dinosaurs around that time. I told them about the Triassic period. It was the the first period where dinosaurs came on the earth!! I read to them important facts about the period as well. After students cut out the dinosaurs from the period, wrote their names and glued it on their Triassic period worksheet. I got them to write one important fact about Triassic and after they coloured the picture in! The Triassic period had a lot of trees and water.
